The throttle is pushed forward; the roar of the engine increases, and the nose of the float plane points upward. The pontoons touch the lake surface, and the plane settles into a glide. Upon landing, the throttle is eased back. Turning from the wind to the shore destination, the throttle is again pushed forward as the plane taxis to shore. The sounds of arrival, amplified by the wind, echo throughout the valley announcing the intrusion to all.

In the composition, “Could Be Trouble,” the black bear sow is standing erect to get a better look. Her eyesight is poor, but her hearing and sense of smell are keen. As potential danger approaches, a specific grunt from the mother sends the cubs scrambling up a tree. Once it is safe, they will wait for her signal to descend. Although the sow would prefer to retreat rather than confront, she will fight to the death to protect her cubs. Added to this drama, a chipmunk finds himself between the height- bound bears. The cubs must be wondering what risk the chipmunk poses. With his eyes fixed on the sow which is agitated and could be dangerous, the chipmunk has already determined his immediate escape route.
